Today is International Children’s Book Day. Established in
1967, the day was created by the International Board on Books for Young People
to help encourage children to read and hopefully inspire a love of reading. The day coincides with the birthday of fairy
tale author Hans Christian Anderson. As a kid I spent a lot of time at the
local library reading as many books as I could. I still love reading to this
day, but the time demands of being an adult sometimes makes it difficult to sit
down with a good book. My little one, however, loves to read. We read several
books each night before bed. A lot of
times she will carry one or two around the house and read them when I am making
dinner or folding laundry. She certainly
loves her books. Below is a list of books for children of all ages to enjoy and
hopefully spark their passion for reading.
